Fab-Con Teams up for Ascension “Stuff the Bus” Program

Gonzales, LA June 18, 2012 – Fab-Con, Inc owners Bobby and Sue Giles teamed up with WBRZ News, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, and Ascension Parish School Systems for the annual “WBRZ Stuff the Bus,” school supply drive to benefit needy children in the local community.

The Stuff the Bus school supply drive, in its fifth year, helps parents and children in Baton Rouge and Ascension Parish who find their students without necessary school supplies due to economic hardship. Last year, the project collected over $61,000 in school supplies for East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools and Ascension Parish public schools.

Fab-Con, Inc. has already raised $2500 for this years Stuff the Bus campaign. Fab-Con owners Bobby and Sue Giles presented a check to WBRZ early Wednesday morning at the Ascension Parish drive held at Office Depot. The Giles raised enough money to fill ten shopping carts with much needed notebooks, loose leaf paper, pens, pencils, dividers, and other school supplies for Ascension Parish students.

When asked why they decided to raise money for the collection drive, Sue Giles responded, “Children of our parish, and all parishes, are our future leaders, I feel that they really need the tools to learn.” The Giles routinely give back to their community by raising money, co-hosting and co-sponsoring charitable events. “It’s really important to us to give back to the community that has been so good to us over the years,” said Bobby Giles, “We feel a family connection to not only the people we work with, but our community as a whole.”

This year’s collection drive is being held at the Office Depot located at 3116 College Drive in Baton Rouge, and the Airline Highway location in Gonzales on Wednesday, July 18th from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to help fill at least one whole East Baton Rouge, and at least one Ascension Parish school bus with the necessary school supplies to get student started this school year.
